Participant Profile
Who are you? My name is Kara Doerksen. I turned 35 in April and I am mom to 8 year old twin boys and a 5 year old boy. I was a SAHM until about a 1 1/2 years ago when I became a substitute secretary with the Public School System.

How did you hear about this program, and what made you do it?? heard about Just Tri It when I took the learn to run clinic at Brainsport. My coach had been involved last year and encourged me to try it out. I have been looking for a way to lose my "baby fat" and I really couldn't see myself running a marathon (how do you actually keep running for that long and not get bored?). So without allowing myself to think I signed up.
What will you find challenging? I think the most challenging thing for me is finding the time to do extra practice inbetween. It is tough to improve without practice. Also I thought the swimming would be a piece of cake after swimming for most of my life. Well I have a lot to learn yet!
What do you hope to get out of the program? Well I hope the program takes about 20 lbs out of me. I really want to build the habit of daily physical activity and being part of this awsome group of ladies has really helped me get started. Just being able to say I am a triathlete is very exciting to me lol.
What races, if any, are you hoping to do? I did the Bridge City Dualthlon, next is the Y-Not-Tri and after that I will start registering for Moe's and Sask Marathon and maybe the Spin off Spadina.
